EIHI believes that personal development not only enhances the individual employee, but as these employees continually enhance their individual skill and knowledge base, the knowledge gained can also be shared with co-workers and add value to the organization as a whole. EIHI is constantly providing ways for employees to grow and develop, including goal-setting plans, training sessions, and rewards for employees.

EIHI provides substantial financial support and their employees donate their time and talents to events benefiting several community organizations, such as United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Carol for Heart, Junior Achievement, and frequent toy, food, and supply drives that benefit local charities.

Beyond these things, EIHI underwrites a "Fresh Outlooks, Better Outcomes" scholarship through Kids' Chance of Pennsylvania, Inc. EIHI also sponsors a golf and walk-a-thon benefiting the organization, which provides scholarship grants to children of workers who have been killed or seriously injured in a work-related accident resulting in financial need. EIHI’s subsidiary, Eastern Life & Health, serves as the 2009 corporate sponsor of Brush. Brush. Smile!(r), a St. Joseph Health Ministries program which improves the oral health of low-income or economically-disadvantaged children through direct care, classroom education, and advocacy.

Last, but certainly not least, EIHI makes sure their employees are having fun. EIHI has developed GRAPES, which is a “fun” committee made up of representatives from each department that coordinates activities and events both inside and outside of work. This provides their employees with an opportunity to have fun, celebrate successes, and come together as a team on a group level.
