Deb Pierson, President and CEO of Pierson Computing Connection, Inc. (PCCi), is known throughout the community not only for her years of technical support and project management services to the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, but also for her accomplishments, service to the community, and her business’ success through nontraditional avenues – a true example of a Servant Leader.
PCCi is a certified Women’s Business Enterprise headquartered in Mechanicsburg and positioned in the Harrisburg Regional Technology Corridor Enterprise Zone. The 40-member PCCi team is dedicated to providing computer services with unsurpassed quality, uncommon honesty, and amazing customer satisfaction throughout every aspect of project management, consulting, installation services, and data cabling.
Deb founded PCCi in 1993 and was the firm's only employee until 1998, when the staff doubled to two employees. As the company expanded, Deb continually increased workplace productivity through unconventional means, such as allowing employees to bring children to the office (which was featured in the January 2008 issue of Time Magazine - Bringing Babies to Work).
When asked about Deb and PCCi, Jean Boucher, Financial Administrator with PCCi, said “I have been working for PCCi for just about a year, but it was apparent right from the start that this is a ‘different’ place to work. When I walked in the door, I was greeted by Annie, our office mascot (Deb’s family’s schnauzer) and the friendly office staff. How often, when interviewing for a part-time accounting position, would the owner take time to sit in on the interview? Deb made it very apparent that the company bases its priorities on family first, office second and that has always been the case. It is obvious from the staff she has hired that she surrounds herself with people that have a similar mindset and work ethic.”
As President and CEO, Deb oversees business development, business operations, and project operations, as well as establishes relationships with key business partners. Deb thrives on team work. She especially enjoys watching her team members exceed customer challenges because of the way they work together.
Deb is known throughout the community and it’s shown through her many accomplishments. Recently, Deb was honored as a national finalist for the 2008 Enterprising Woman of the Year by Enterprising Women Magazine for her position as founder and president of PCCi and for her role in motivating and mentoring other women in business. Deb is also a 2006 winner of the Central Penn Business Journal’s Top Forty Under 40 and has been named a “Mover and Shaker” by Central Penn Business Journal for being a local, influential business leader who makes major commitments to the community through time and charitable giving. She has also been recognized by Messiah College’s (her alma mater) magazine, The Bridge, as a business leader and mentor as she speaks to advisors and advisees at Messiah on non-traditional careers for women.
Deb is a passionate community servant. She generously donates her time, money, and resources to Silver Spring Youth Baseball, the Alzheimer’s Association of Greater PA, the Technology Council of Central Pennsylvania, the Harrisburg Regional Chamber, and the West Shore Chamber and its Technology Council. As a woman-owned enterprise, Deb knows how important it is to lend guidance and assist women in business and as such, she supports Dress for Success South Central PA, a non-profit organization that offers services to help women re-enter the workforce and maintain employment.
Deb also encourages the PCCi team to invest their skills, time, and financial resources to benefit the local community. Nancy DelSanto, Project Manager with PCCi, said “Deb has always been an active participant in many charitable organizations, such as the Greater Harrisburg Alzheimer’s Association and encourages her employees to be involved as well. Our team walked this year in the Memory Walk on
Deb has her priorities right: faith, family, and friends first and office second with a continuing focus on community. Not only does she live by these standards, but she surrounds herself with team members who have these same priorities. This cohesiveness allows PCCi to continue to be a leading edge, successful company with admirable ideals. Deb Pierson is a Servant Leader.
