The negative media attention surrounding the early hiccups of the amnesty program have given a less than favorable impression of the program. Amnesty really does provide substantial savings for many. Being an employee of the Department of Revenue I can tell you first hand that over the course of the first 3 days of the amnesty period, taxpayers have become less patient and more irritated. I attribute this to the negative media attention.

Thank you for providing this helpful information about the program. One side note that may assist some readers when registering for amnesty and has been a common error in the first few days. Once entering the taxpayer id and amnesty pin number the taxpayer must first click the add button prior to clicking the next button. Failure to do this results in the liability not being shown. Thanks again.
